Side Trip to Malaga

Malaga_Spain_Alcazaba_TeatroI am hanging out for a few more days with Mags and Javier, this time in Malaga where Javier lives.  Malaga is a popular resort town on the southern coast of Spain. Because Spaniards head for the beach in August, Malaga is very crowded right now — and hot!

Appreciating Picasso

IMG_0577 Javier’s apartment is in the charming old part of the city, where he seems to know just about everyone.  It is on the second floor over a tetaria (tea house) that plays great music and occasionally it’s live. The window in my bedroom overlooks the interior of the cafe so I can enjoy the party in my PJs.

Picasso was born in Malaga and there is a terrific museum of his works here.  I thought this painting and this Picasso quote were a good match:
Tomorrow I head back to Madrid on the train and then fly to Budapest.  I will miss this: DSCN0260 “It is better to travel well than to arrive.” Buddha
